Keynote: The Future of Web Content Management
Wednesday, November 9th, 9.15
Predicting the future is dangerous, particularly since few people can agree on the present -- somewhat muddled -- WCM technology landscape. This keynote session will provide a brief history of the WCM field and offer some ideas about where the industry is going. Don't expect to hear conventional wisdom about major infrastructure players (Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Sun, SAP, et. al.) inevitably coming to dominate the marketplace, or how WCM will melt away into a broader "ECM" stack.
Web content management will remain a thriving field, albeit a rather different one from today. New innovations and requirements from sister disciplines such as search and records management will change the way we manage online content. Perhaps more importantly, emerging archetypal scenarios will help focus vendors and users alike, and -- perhaps -- bring more clarity to the marketplace as a whole.
